The City of Fontana is 13 miles west of San Bernardino and 49 miles east of Los Angeles. It sits at the intersection of Interstate 10 and 15 and State Routes 66 and 30.  Metrolink rail service to the greater Los Angeles area runs through the center of town, and it is only 10 minutes away from Ontario International Airport.

The City of Fontana is close to the mountains, beaches, several lakes and desert areas and just a short jaunt to 12 County of San Bernardino regional parks.  The California Speedway is located just west of Fontana's border.  Fontana is home to the Fontana Days Half Marathon and 5 k run.  This race is on record as the fastest half marathon course in the world.



The Fontana Unified School District has 23 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 3 high schools, 2 continuation high schools, 1 vocational or occupational program, 1 alternative education program and 1 school for the severely handicapped. Additionally, Chaffey Community College has a satellite campus in Fontana. The City is within close proximity to California State University, San Bernardino, University of California, Riverside, and the University of Redlands.



Fontana has one golf course and another under construction.  Sierra Lakes Golf Course is located at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains.  Sierra Lakes Golf Club is a new 18-hole, championship golf course designed by Ted Robinson, internationally acclaimed golf course architect. The par 72, 6,805-yard layout is a premiere daily fee, public golf facility offering golfers affordable golf in a country club setting.

Cultural and Recreational

There are 60 churches, a public library, and the Fontana Performing Arts Center. Fontana has 21 parks, 6 community centers with swimming pools and playgrounds. The Martin Tudor Regional Park (300 acres) includes a beach, swim lagoon, water slide, equestiran, and hiking activities with picnic and campground facilities. The new California speedway for NASCAR and Indy Car races, is located in an unincorporated area just outside the City limits.
